Teachers get their inspiration from many places. Alisha Ruble’s inspiration first came from her grandmother who was a teacher for 40 years. In high school she had the most amazing theater teacher and it was then that she decided that education would be her career path. Alisha had no idea how she would pay for her college then she was blessed to be a Florida Merit Scholar and received a 75% paid scholarship.
Alisha attended Polk Community College (now Polk State College) and received her Associate of Arts Degree in Liberal Arts with a focus in Education. After finishing at Polk in 2004, she was accepted at the University of South Florida. There she attended a cohort program for Elementary Education. There she received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, graduating Cum Laude in 2007.
The summer following her graduation, Alisha attended the Polk County School Board job fair. To her surprise she received her ideal offer first thing in the morning. She came in a college grad and left a fourth grade teacher at Ben Hill Griffin Jr. Elementary. Alisha worked in that position from 2007 through 2009 when she and her husband relocated to the Lynchburg, Virginia area to further their educations.
After taking a step in faith and moving, Alisha immediately began filling the surrounding areas with her resume and applications. In less than a week she had an interview with a local school district. Alisha walked into the interview with a positive attitude and aced the interview, once again leaving with the desired position.
Alisha is passionate about education and technology. She is very excited that she is able to put the two together.
